Gripping 1950's espionage thriller set mostly in Paris that was a box-office success in its day. Director Guy Green, takes care to frame this enthralling plot with crisp visuals and handsome locations.Newly docked in Marseille, Larry Ellis (Michael Craig) a suave merchant sailor, bears a striking resemblance to Steve Chancellor a renowned counterfeiter recently killed in a car crash. In an effort to expose a gang of ruthless French crooks, the CIA recruit Ellis to pose as the deceased Chancellor and infiltrate the counterfeiters gang. During his quest Ellis encounters Chancellors girlfriend, cabaret singer Diane Gilbert (Julia Arnall) and quickly discovers the gang are planning to flood Britain with forged currency. However Ellis falls under suspicion as a double crosser as he struggles to get to the truth and unmask the ring leaders until the climatic finale!!
